Kaatje Jones

Voice Movement Therapy (VMT) • Guided Hiking (SMSA Permit)
Sound Therapy, Bilingual - Offering Sessions in English and Spanish

Kaatje Jones grew up in Colorado and has spent the better part of her adult life as a nomad, both internationally and within the USA. The daughter of a craniosacral therapist and a shamanic practitioner, she grew up learning about energy fields, intuition, and personal healing.

Kaatje has always been fascinated by human expression and has studied voice since middle school, including such disparate styles as tango, flamenco, and opera. When she discovered a healing modality that combined voice with an active imagination and somatic exploration, she jumped at the opportunity to study it.

Voice Movement Therapy is an Expressive Arts Therapeutic Modality based on the embodied voice. Using the voice as a guide, Kaatje embarks on a healing journey with each client through whatever is held in their body, whether it be hidden power or old wounds. These engaging and interactive sessions range from singing to cathartic release to empowerment through play.

Guided Hiking Kaatje Jones Sedona Arizona with Jeanne Howell on West Fork Trail

Land-Based sessions combine Voice Movement Therapy with Earth-Based Spirituality. Kaatje asks the land itself to guide and hold the session. Here amongst the red rocks, this frequency frequently creates magic.

Pre-Session Reading
If you’re not sure which location or session length is right for you. Kaatje can tune in and intuit which experience will best meet your needs. This involves a short interview to determine what you are looking for and a brief reading. This can be done over the phone and shouldn’t take longer than 10-15 Minutes.

Voice and Sound Movement Sessions • Guided Hiking

INDOOR SESSION

Easy access to indoor locations. This option is ideal for those with mobility issues or injuries, or a great alternative if the weather looks ominous.

LAND BASED SESSIONS

Please Note that we have to request a trail beforehand so if you are wanting VMT or Guided Hiking we don’t offer same day appointments for these services.

These sessions integrate the trail into the session itself. The length of the session is determined by the length of the trail, plus a 60 Minute in-depth session at a specific location on the land/trail. For each of your land-based journeys

These sessions include different locations and we would love to discuss which place would be perfect for you and your 90 Minute session.

  • Secret Slickrock (watery energy, with breathtaking views of Cathedral Rock) 0.5-mile hike to the location

  • Lovers’ Knoll (sweet and airy energy, easy access)

  • Centennial (wheelchair accessible, with gorgeous views of Thunder Mountain)

  • Mystic Vista (Earthy Energy, Views of Thunder Mountain, Boynton Canyon, and Fay Canyon)

  • Yavapai Vista (Earth and Air Energy, Views of Bell Rock - keep in mind this trail can be crowded but don’t let that discourage you from this journey)

If you are looking for a little bit longer hike and a longer session these locations may be perfect for a 120 Minutes Session/Journey.

  • Sugar Loaf (Earth and Fire Energy with views of Thunder Mountain)

  • Doe Mountain (Earthy Energy, views of Thunder Mountain, Boynton Canyon, Fay Canyon, Cathedral Rock, and Bell Rock) - this is a short but intense trail.

For a complete emersion, we recommend a 3 Hour Voice Movement Session. You will feel changed and completely unified with your body, mind, and consciousness.

  • Jim Thompson/Brins Mesa (Fiery Energy)

Testimonials

  • "Kaatje has an upbeat postitive attitude that draws you in and makes you feel included. She started off the short hike by getting you in tune with nature and your body. We then started our voice movement session and it was absolutely phenomenal. We enjoyed reliving our childhood and bringing it back to the here and now. I loved it."

Voice Movement Therapy

  • Voice Movement Therapy (VMT) is a holistic approach to self-exploration and healing that uses the voice as its primary instrument. It was developed in the 1980s by Paul Newham, a British musician, and therapist, and is based on the idea that the voice is intimately connected to the body, emotions, and psyche. In Voice Movement Therapy, individuals are guided to explore their vocal expression through a variety of exercises and techniques that involve breathwork, movement, and sound-making. Through this process, individuals are encouraged to listen to and express their innermost thoughts, feelings, and emotions, and to develop a deeper awareness of their physical and emotional states. VMT is based on the principle that the voice is a reflection of the person's emotional and physical state, and that by working with the voice, individuals can gain greater insight into themselves, and improve their overall well-being.

VMT has been used to treat a variety of conditions, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction, and has been shown to be effective in reducing stress, improving self-esteem, and enhancing overall emotional and physical health.
