  • Reflexology

Reflexology is a system of massage based on the theory that there are reflex points on the hands, feet, ears and head linked to every part of the body and used to relieve tension, pain and heal illness. As pressure is placed on certain areas, the corresponding organ or tissue reacts benefiting the person’s health. If you are uncomfortable with full-body massage therapy, Reflexology is a wonderful alternative.

Foot Reflexology is an ancient healing art, practiced by applying specific pressure to the reflex points in the feet. Modern research shows that this form of pressure interrupts stress in the body, and starts the relaxation response of the parasympathetic nervous system. There are approximately 7,200 nerve endings in each foot that connect to every organ, gland, and body part.

According to the Mayo Clinic Website: “Several studies funded by the National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health indicate that reflexology may reduce pain and psychological symptoms, such as anxiety and depression, and enhance relaxation and sleep. Studies also show that reflexology may have benefits in palliative care of people with cancer.”

The overall benefits of Reflexology include relaxation, improved lymphatic flow and circulation, detoxification, restored balance in the body, and can activate the body’s own healing potential. It has also been used to alleviate stress, treat chronic pain, and symptoms of diabetes, asthma and cancer. Clients typically feel relaxed after a session, and should take some time afterwards before engaging in any strenuous activity.

  • Cupping Massage

Cupping massage is a form of alternative therapy that involves placing special cups on the skin to create suction. The suction creates a negative pressure that helps to pull the skin, muscles, and fascia upward, creating space and promoting blood flow to the area. Cupping massage is a traditional Chinese therapy that has been used for thousands of years and is still widely practiced today.

During a cupping massage session, the therapist will typically use glass, silicone, or plastic cups that are placed on the skin with suction. The cups can either be left in place or moved around on the skin, depending on the therapist's technique and the client's needs. The suction from the cups creates a vacuum-like effect that pulls the skin and underlying tissues upward, stimulating blood flow and promoting healing.

There are several benefits associated with cupping massage, including:

Pain relief: Cupping massage is believed to help relieve pain by reducing inflammation and promoting blood flow to the affected area.

Relaxation: Cupping massage can promote relaxation by helping to release tension and stress from the body.

Improved circulation: The suction from cupping massage can help to increase blood flow and promote circulation, which can help to deliver more oxygen and nutrients to the body's tissues.

Improved immune function: Cupping massage is believed to help boost the immune system by promoting the flow of lymphatic fluid, which can help to remove toxins and waste from the body.

Reduced muscle tension: Cupping massage can help to loosen and release tight muscles, reducing pain and discomfort in the body.

Improved skin health: Cupping massage can help to improve the appearance and health of the skin by promoting blood flow and the delivery of nutrients to the skin's tissues.

  • Myofascial Release

Myofascial release consists of a gentle application of sustained pressure into fascial restrictions in the body. Fascia is a tough connective tissue that spreads throughout the body in a three-dimensional web from head to foot without interruption. Trauma, posture or inflammation can create a binding down of fascia resulting in excessive pressure on nerves, muscles, blood vessels, osseous structures, and organs. The gentle but sustained pressure in the fascial restrictions helps release this binding and relieves pain.

A session may include myofascial unwinding which is the spontaneous movement of the client’s body in response to the therapist’s hands and its position in space. Myofascial unwinding shows up as breathing changes, involuntary twitches, and sometimes larger movements like arm or leg stretches or otherwise unprompted movements that the client does not consciously initiate. These movements are natural and a part of the healing process. The therapist supports the client in the unwinding process without directing or manipulating the movement.

In Myofascial Release the craniosacral system is considered to be the deepest layer of the fascial system, and thus an MFR session often includes craniosacral work. In Myofascial Release techniques no oil or cream is applied. Male clients typically wear lose shorts or a bathing suit; female clients usually wear a two-piece bathing suit or loose shorts and a tank top. It is recommended that the client not use lotion or oil on their skin prior to the MFR session as it affects the ability of the therapist to apply sustained pressure without sliding.

Cranial Sacral Therapy seeks to restore the natural position of the bones. • Abdominal Relaxation Therapy

This abdominal detox therapy, known as Chi Nei Tsang, is an ancient and time-tested form of detoxifying abdominal bodywork from China. It is an art and science that utilizes a systematic method to strengthen, energize and detox the internal organs. This therapy has a similar effect to acupuncture. This therapy releases stress and promotes healing by opening obstructions around the navel and surrounding abdominal area.

Stress/Tension is responsible for 80% of imbalance. The abdomen is a place where stress, tension, and negative emotions accumulate and congest. The navel in Chinese Medicine is known as the "Lower Tian Tien", which translates as the "Sea of Chi". The abdomen is a place where all the body's acupuncture meridians all connect at one point. When the abdominal area is knotted up, the vitality and energy flow of the whole body is compromised. The body wastes so much energy holding this tension and this slowly weakens the circulation to the vital internal organs. This decreases the available energy for the rest of the body and the mind.

Chi Nei Tsang eliminates toxins in the G.I. tract. It also promotes circulation, lymphatic drainage, digestion, and emotional release. The circulation of the spine and the extremities are also stimulated in this therapy.

  • Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage with Relaxing Spine Release

This spa therapy is deeply relaxing and nourishing for the mind, brain, and nervous system. The mind and brain are directly related to the senses. In our modern technological world, the senses are often overused which leaves the mind scattered and the brain burnt out. The brain, spine, and abdomen are energetically and neurologically connected. The intention of this therapy is to oxygenate the brain, relax the spine and promote better circulation to the abdomen. This soothes the central nervous system and centers the thinking mind.

This therapy begins with a warm herbal oil massage over the abdomen, deepening the breath and grounding the mind. Next, the Indian Head Massage uses synchronized, fluid massage strokes around the head, neck, and face. This relaxes and loosens important cranial nerves as well as stimulates the surrounding acupressure points and meridians. The last part of this therapy uses circular massage strokes around the shoulders, spine, and low back with traditional herbal oil. Steam therapy is then applied which allows the sweat glands to open and the muscles to loosen. This action sends the herbal oil deeper into the muscles and nerves.
